The first thing we did after breakfast at our hotel was to go to the Musee d'Orsay where we looked at a Neo-Impressionalist exhibition. It is incredible how simplistic some art can be. Personally I think some of it was rubbish. When art tries to be so simple that it basically loses whatever it is supposed to communicate, I think it becomes completely stupid. Some of it was ok, though, but not really my taste. The museum's permanent collection was much more interesting with famous pieces from Van Gogh, Monet etc. It was really nice to see these paintings. They were so much better than the temporary exhibition, and you can easily see that the paintings require skill and talent from the artist . The bad thing about d'Orsay was that it was so huge that we got completely lost. We did not have a map over the museum as we forgot to pick one up when we went in, and therefore we had no idea where we were half the time and I ended up going in circles many times. Very frustrating. I'll post some photos of famous paintings etc later when I have downloaded them from my camera.
After the museum we went to the Eiffel Tower. Just to specify, we WALKED the whole way. And I was wearing shoes that had a bit of a heel on them... Pretty painful. On the way we bought another baguette at a cute little boulangerie and ate outside the Eiffel Tower. The weather was perfect so we laid on the grass relaxing and enjoying the view for quite a while before we thought it was time to go to the top of the tower.
